hatay I
just the day before we were about to leave to adana we learned, thas b. was quitting her job there. anyway, there was no alternative to travalling after all the stress so we decided to head for aksaray, as we were advised by e.
hitchhiking was easy but a little bit boring. once you are on the road you just have to ask in the truckers`s lokantas who`s going the direction, you want. normally you get food and for sure enough çay for getting timbery. just there were no international big trucks, just kamyon, which did not do more than 20 km/h at the mountains, and yes there were plenty.
between these mountains we crossed the anatolian plateau with an amazing lake. watching it for some while i recognized, that there was a salty crust, thats why it is called tuz gölü and has some salt plants around.
but the conversation was a little bit strange. the first driver wanted to proof the existence of god for all the time, just arguing, that all the unquestionable pretty landscape couldn`t exist by itself. I found myself between translating as far as i could for jelena trying to translate her elaborated argumentation as accurate as possible and counter argue by myself. it got boring as his point of view didn`t change and as soon as I tried to convince him of the dangers of religious thinking by the example of hamas, and he turned out to support this organization for its fight against İsrael I decided, the better option to pass the trip is to sleep as much as possible. the second driver was just boring, several attempts to communicate were unsuccessful …
İ will jump a little. once in hatay we were collected by a guy, who lived in kuwait and other arab states and we had some nice conversations. he had a quite decided opinion about the lack of freedom in these countries. unfortunately after some while he decided to try to get closer to j. which got more and more annoying first of all for her, but for me it was in a way confronting me with my role to protect her - or my claims? In a way I had the feeling me not accepting this would have solved the situation but as I refused this role no other solution was left but getting rid of him …
