What is a blog?
When İ tell my friends, İ started a blog, most don`t know, what İ`m talking about. And İ didn`t have an answer. İ can tell, what İ have written yet and what other blogs, İ like, do. But now İ found a definition by “Süddeutsche Zeitung” :
Als Blogs werden Webseiten bezeichnet, die häufig aktualisiert werden, leicht zu administrieren sind, bei denen neue Beiträge jeweils oben angezeigt werden und die die Möglichkeit zum Kommentieren bieten. Jeder Beitrag eines Blogs hat eine beständige Internet-Adresse, einen so genannten PermaLink, auf den via so genanntem /->siehe: Trackback verwiesen werden kann.
which means: a blog is an website, which is updated regulary, easy to administrate and new posts are shown on top. Thre is the possibility to post comments. Each post has a pemanent URL called PermaLink, to which can be referred via so called Trackback.
Thats short. and its saying nothing about content, style, philosophy …
And there is still one question: What the hell is a trackback? İ didn`t understand yet. But to be honest, İ don`t really want to know. İ write this article only, because İ want to be a blogger and this wasn`t be a blog, if it wouldn`t be updated regulary. Sueddeutsche Zeitung is also writing, that the total sum of blogs is called blogsphere. Oh İ am part of an movement. But as far as İ know, there are only two blogs linking to me: el tinglerio and the jelli life. These are my “blogsphere”, but more important, these are friends. There are four other blogs in my linklist, İ like reading them, but İ don`t feel like being one “sphere”. There are other sites updated regulary, like venceremos. İts not a blog. the new posts are not on the top and İ don`t know, how easy the administration is. İ just know, this is an important site to be informed about neonazism in germany, espacially dresden. So if you know german, have a look.
so, beside all this definition stuff, a blog is a website, which is mostly writing about itself. so its just a game and mostly boring. so because İ don`t want to bore you too much, İ present you one more pic, showing, that life outside is not as boring as this web 2.0 stuff:

A trackback is a special kind of comment: You want to comment someone’s blog, but you don’t want to do it in their blog, but in yours. So you just write your article into your blog and add a trackback. This will ping the other blog, that there is a comment on it in your blog. Wordpress e.g. adds a comment to the other blog with a link to your blog.
